The HKPGA Annual Gala 2009 took place on June 5, 2009 at Skycity Nine Eagles Golf Course with more than 150 guests attended the event. Apart from the Presidents and Committee of HKPGA, representatives from media and patrons of various golf brands were also guests of the night.

The annual event kicked off at 7pm with Mr. Wilson Choy, President of HKPGA, began by a welcoming speech and expressing his gratitude for the support from different sectors. He thanked Hong Kong Fanling Golf Club, Jockey Club KSC Public Golf Course, Clearwater Bay Golf Club and Discovery Bay Golf Club for the golf course sponsorship of Order of Merits. He also showed his appreciation to Skycity Nine Eagles Golf Course for sponsoring the venue for golf tournament and gala dinner, and Perfect Time Watch Limited for sponsoring prizes for the tournament. Last but not least, he conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the major patron of this year Order of Merits, Dongguan Yinli Golf Club and Board Chairman Mr. Leung Chi for his long-term support.

Guests at the gala also witnessed the graduation of 5 male and 13 female trainees from the HKPGA Golf Professional Training Program 2006-2008. The Director of Training Mr. Lee Parker presented all graduates with a certificate. Followed by The Trainee of the Year Award, the award winner for 2007 & 2008 went to Florence Yuen and Ernie Lee respectively.

Another highlight was the announcement of the overall champions of Order of Merits for different divisions in 2007 and 2008. Derek Fung and Wong Woon Man respectively won the top spot from the Open Division, while Daniel Liu (2007) and Tang Shu Wing (2008) claimed the title from the Seniors Division. The ladies title 2008 went to Melody Chan. Mr. Wilson Choy concluded the ceremony by presenting souvenir to patrons: Jockey Club KSC Golf Club, Golf Park, Skycity Nine Eagles Golf Course and Perfect Time Watch Limited.

The gala staged the prize presentation ceremony of afternoon tournament shortly after the souvenir presentation, 10 prizes were given out in total. Cameron Halliday, General Manager of Jockey Club KSC Public Golf Course, clinched the championship of the “Gross Division” with the score of 68; while Mac Leung, Mrs. Catalina Takafuku and Rick Hamilton claimed the first three places of the “Net Division”. The two “Straightest Line Awards” were set at Hole 4 and 9 and were taken by Cindy Lee and Mable Chan respectively. The “Closest To Pin Award” went to Mrs. Catalina Takafuku, Jean Chang, Vincent Wan and Vincent Leung, General Manager of Nine Eagles. Choy then, together with the committee, proposed a toast to the guests, which marked the beginning of the banquet. Over 100 of gifts were given out at the gala lucky draw. The evening ended with joy and laughter.
