Brilliant 68 gives Boulet two-shot cushion
Dominque Boulet fired a magnificent 4-under-par 68 over the North Course at The Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public GolfCourse today to take the first round lead a tleg two of the HKPGA’s Order of Merit. Boulet, who possibly spends more time behind the microphone commentating on ESPN Star Sports than playing these days, leads Wong Woon-man and Grant Gibson by two strokes.
15-year-old amateur Steven Lam, playing on a special invitation, impressed many enroute to a level-par round of 72. Lam ended the day in sole possession of fifth place, a stroke ahead of Asian Tour regular David Freeman. Derek Fung, who holds the course record at Kau Sai Chau—a brilliant 66, recorded three years ago—carded a two-over-par effort of 74 to lie in a share of ninth.
In the Ladies Division, Joann Hardwick will take a four shot lead into tomorrow’s final round after a determined 77. Florence Yuen carded an 81 to lie second, while leg one winner Betty Ng’s 83 sees her in a share of third alongside Elsa Tang and Melody Chan.
In the Seniors Division, Tang Shun-wing continued his recent fine run of form with a solid 73. He leads second-placed Michael Kan by three shots. Alfredo Morales is another two strokes adrift in third.
