The 6^th Yinli HKPGA Classic 2008

The 6^th Yinli HKPGA Classic will take place at Yinli Foreign Investors Club, China from 20 –22 October 2008. With a total sponsorship money of HK$800,000, making it the richest event on the Hong Hong Professional Golfers’ Association’s calendar, the prestigious event will see last year’s Open Division Winner Jang Chel Ho and Senior Division Winner Liu Ping Kwong return to compete with elite professional players from China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. Considered one of the HKPGA’s annual ‘Major Championship’, the tournament combines the support of both Yinli Golf Club and the HKPGA, with organizers predicting the 2008 edition of the tournament to be the most successful to date.

Mr. Leung Chi, Chairman of Yinli Golf Club and HKPGA’s honorable Vice Chairman, has always been a big drive in the development of professional golf in Hong Kong. His support began in 2003 with the establishment of the event; the big prize purses on offer and the redevelopment of the first-class venue has successfully attracted quality players from around the region as well as elevating the event’s status towards international standard.

This will be the 6^th event of the HKPGA Classic and in order to further promote the development of professional golf for women, a new division will be added for the ladies. Together with the existing men’s and senior’s divisions, there will be a total of three divisions competing for a share of the silverware and prize money.

In addition, amateurs will have a chance to pair up and compete with the professional players on Oct 22 – the date of the pro-am tournament.

It is envisaged that the 6^th Yinli HKPGA Classic will not just be a highlight on the Hong Kong professional golfing circuit, but also one of the most important lucrative and anticipated in China today.
