Lee Man Lok, Lokky – Champion of 3rd Yinli HKPGA Order Of Merit Title

The Yinli HKPGA Order of Merit 2009 – Leg 3 took place on 1st & 2nd June at the Clearwater Bay Country Golf Club with three divisions, the Open, Ladies and Seniors Division. A total of 68 players were competing for the top spot, two of them were representing HKPGA as amateur player in the Ladies division. Lee Man Lok, Lokky from the Open Division clinched the championship with a combined score of 143 while Sung Sing produced a score of 150 to claim the Seniors Division title. Amateur Stephanie Ho, winner of the second leg, defended the Ladies Division title with a brilliant total score of 139.
The two-day-event was tightly contested. Most golfers produced excellent performance under the beautiful weather and perfect course condition. Veteran players Tang Man Kee went head to head with Lokky on the 1st day with Tang led the field by a respectable one-below-par 69 while Lee was one shot adrift in second place. However, series of uncharacteristic blunders on the second day cost Tang the match and ended up at the fourth with the score of 77. First round winner David Freeman and Lee Wing Kee started the day slow but managed to catch up and both came to second place finish with the combined score of 144. Despite the stressful atmosphere, the experienced Lokky beat Tang by one par and emerged as the champion. Lee said after the game, “My performance was really solid today; I was very calm throughout, it helped me a lot in securing the championship”
Veteran Sung Sing from the seniors division had been playing golf for almost 30 years and had an excellent game despite the lack of practice and could definitely perform better had he avoided some problems on the putting green. Sung still managed to secure three birdies in the two-day-event and clinched the senior title with 150 (75/75).
Amateur lady golfer Stephanie caught five birdies and finished the game with a one-below par 69 on the first day and had a rock solid game on the last with a 70, outperforming all other lady competitors. I really enjoy the friendship and excitement of tournament and I am very happy to win again, the young champion said.
