Local Veteran Player Tommy Kan Triumphed at the Super Division at Feng Yuan, Taiwan

Organized by the Taiwan Senior Professional Golfers’ Association and with a total purse money of TWD1.2 M, 2014 Feng Yuan Senior Open was held from 3 to 5 of September at Feng Yuan Golf and Country Club.  In the final round, Taiwan local player C H Chung, with superb iron shots and accurate puttings, won over other strong players with a perfect round of 65 with 6 birdies and no drop shot and a total of 203, 10 under par in three rounds crowned him the champion and took away TWD120,000 prize money. 

The event had Super Senior Division and Senior Division.  Representatives from HKPGA including Daniel Liu, Mancent Man, C M Yau, Siu Kam Piu and Tommy Kan played in the event. 

For the Super Senior Division, Tommy Kan from HKPGA finished Day 1 at 73 and a 75 in the final day.  With a total of 148, Tommy won the Super Senior Division and took away TWD 35,000 prize money.  Taiwan renowned player M N Hsieh with a records of playing five times of The Open and one time of the Master in the 80’s finished the two rounds at a total of 150 tied second with CH Wong. 

After the event, C H Chung, winner of the Senior Division, said that the event was initiated by him.  Though there was only a two months preparation time, the result was very satisfactory.  He also played superbly well and won the event.  He thanked Mr C K Yau of the course management’s support and the sponsor’s support to make the event happened.  He said that Mr Yau had committed to support the event next year.

With the 17 years of teaching experience in HKJC Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course, Tommy has been golf professional since 1995.  He said after winning, “it was a great gift for me in winning this match.  I had no set goal before coming here.  I just wish to play and enjoy. Of course, I was focus during the two rounds.  Over the years, I kept playing in Taiwan, Manila, Singapore, etc.  Fortunately, I played pretty well in the events I played.  I need to thank my HKPGA teammates and I could not achieve without their support.”
